David started his fire service career in 1978, where he served in suppression for ten years before becoming a Training Officer in 1989. He was promoted to his current position in 1995. David has a Masters degree in Adult Education, a diploma in Fire Science Technology, a certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. He has presented numerous seminars in both Canada and the United States. David helped develop the ISO and HSO curriculum for the Fire Department Safety Officers Association. He was the recipient of the NFPA Fellowship Award in 1992 and the George D. Post Instructor of the Year award in 1995. David is also a member of the NFPA 1500 Committee and served as the chairperson for the NFPA 1521 Task Group.
