Dr. Gary Lougheed is a Principal Research Officer in the Fire Research Program, National Research Council Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto and has more than 33 years research experience with NRC. He has an extensive background in fire research on smoke control and smoke management, fire dynamics and the effect of fire on materials, furnishings and building assemblies. He is a member of ASHRAE and NFPA and serves on the NFPA Smoke Management and ASHRAE TC 5.6, Fire and Smoke Control, committees. Dr. Lougheed has written or co-authored more than 200 publications.
