Acting Inspector Shan Raffel – Queensland Fire and Rescue Services

Shan Raffel has been a professional firefighter in Queensland, Australia since 1983 and is currently managing the development of operational response planning for large road tunnels. He was originally trained in CFBT in Sweden and the UK in 1997 and since then he has assisted numerous Australian and International Fire Services in establishing their own training facilities and training programs. He has authored and presented numerous technical papers that have been published in national and international fire journals. In 2005 he is a co-author of 3D Fire fighting – Training, Tactics and Techniques, which in published in the USA by FPP/IFSTA. Shan was recently designated a Companion Member of the IFE and was awarded the AFSM Australian Fire Service Medal for his extensive efforts in fire protection sciences and fire service training.
